When people talk about magic, they usually mean miracles.
But when you open Harry Potter, that’s not what you get.
Because once magic becomes predictable, something else must carry meaning.
And in Rowling’s world, that something is not power.
Magic no longer feels powerful.
Institutions no longer feel trustworthy.
Rules no longer feel protective.
If magic in Harry Potter feels familiar, it’s because we already live inside its modern equivalent.
We just don’t call it magic anymore.
We call it technology.
